Danijel Z, thank you for your blog post.Really thank you! ’ve got high quality content. 379 Cyber Monday price on MS Store listed above) because of IPS touch-screen.

A problem with the Dell is that maintenance manual for it isn’t listed on the Dell site so I’m not 100% sure whether it features two RAM slots. But I guess the i3378 is actually 5378 (3378 apparently doesn’t exists in Dell’s official lineup). They look the same and have the same main specs, so I assume they are both identical inside. But if you’re more into 15.6″ size then the Acer is a good choice, especially after upgrading to dual-channel memory and putting an SSD drive instead of HDD (major speed boost in everyday use.). And if you don’t mind narrow viewing angles of its TN screen. Thx. I did want some more screen because I have to handle multiple docs on occasion, and really had no current use for touchscreen functionality.

I wanted an i5 but could not figure a way to swing it at that price point similarly equipped (figuring RAM & SSD upgrade), but I think this will do the trick. I only play one game anyway. 4. Hello thanks for posting this. I am looking for a laptop with a screen of 15.6 or 17.3. I am not sure which brand…always had HP. I just mostly surf the web, play music, and download family photos. Looking for a deal on Cyber Monday. Hi, can you tell me what’s your budget, 5. Hi I like the Acer Predator Helios but i heard that it overheats on hard gaming what do you think.

Hi, I don’t own the Helios, but I also found in most reviews that the laptop is producing excessive heat while gaming (but not under light load). Also saw the picture of CPU & GPU fans inside it being too close to each other, which is maybe the cause of not so great cooling. Office max has two deals with HP door buster and Lenovo. Can you give me your reviews on those laptops, Thanks for the heads up, I’ll include those deals soon. 449.99 from the Office Depot / Max ad, The CPU is excellent. 100 less. On the other hand, both of these have old-fashioned HD displays with narrow viewing angles (that’s a deal breaker IMO). Getting a laptop with an IPS Full HD screen would be a major improvement. 550 (15.6-inchers) and you can find them in the list above.

529.99 on the 2nd page of the ad right,), I’ll take a look at it now. Please stay tuned. Cheers. 529 Lenovo 2-in-1 from the Office Max ad is a good deal in comparison to other BF deals. Especially if you plan to use Lenovo’s active pen with it (sold separately). 30 more, but lacks active pen support. I hope you get paid for such valuable & accurate information. 300-400 on black Friday or wait for cyber Monday, That’s a tough question. It really depends on a particular offer. But, generally I would say on Black Friday price cuts are more aggressive than on Cyber Monday.

On the other hand, laptops with huge discounts sell out very quickly during Black Friday / Thanksgiving sales. Oftentimes in just a couple of minutes after the deal goes live. 8. I was able to find good advice from your content. 9. This website contains awesome deals about the laptops available in the market. 10. What’s the catch with the HP 14-an013nr, It’s simply an amazing deal. No laptop in the 200-dollar price range has FHD screen nor IPS. 200 laptops. The only potentially big downside is limited storage space of only 32GB (and Windows takes up around half of that).

But you can expand it with a memory card. In addition, the laptop has a free optical drive bay inside, so you can hack the laptop and put an SSD or HDD drive in that bay. I will be editing a lot of HD video on a laptop. 900 on this list that you would recommend, 800 if possible but I don’t want something painfully slow either. I would look for two or three things. My processor preference for video editing is the quad-core i7 series. In the list on this page there are a couple of laptops with it.

In particular, with the i7-6700HQ and one with the older-generation i7-4720HQ. Both perform very similar. The dual-core i7 and i5 can be also decent for movie making, but the quad-core has a noticeable advantage when you load the CPU with video encoding. I don’t know whether your video editing software supports GPU acceleration. If it does, a laptop with a quad-core i7 and a dedicated video card like the Nvidia GeForce 940M or above is a good investment. Finally, IPS display is a must. You don’t want to deal with narrow viewing angles and color distortion of TN panels while editing videos. 13. I’m really interested in the Dell Signature Edition on MS Store. What do you guys think about it, A great deal if you take into account price, performance, and features.

The only important drawback might be a lack of IPS for wide viewing angles. Also, I prefer SSD storage, but at the price point HDD is OK. 14. Looking for a little advice if not too far past Cyber Monday. 799 boasting an I7-6700HQ with 4GB NVIDEA 950M and 15″ IPS. Both are 16 GB DDR3L RAM and with the exception of the optical drive in the 15t are very similar. 100. Primary system uses - my son uses it for school and gaming and I will use it for ocassionally for photo editing and drawing/drafting with MS Visio and InkScape. The main benefit of the Envy 15t is its faster i7 quad-core CPU instead of dual-core i7.

This makes running demanding games easier and will noticeably boost some operations in photo/video editing programs. In common day-to-day web, office, and multimedia playback tasks, the chips offer similar (great) performance. As for the video cards, the Nvidia 950M and 850M offer a very similar performance, with the 950M being only slightly faster. 15. My son is looking for a laptop for gaming. 949, 15.6 HD, Intel Core i7-5500U, 8GB memory/1TB HDD. Intel HD Graphics 5500 with shared graphics memory. Laptops with integrated graphics like the Intel HD 5500 are not good for gaming generally. For that purpose, recommended are laptops with dedicated video cards, such as the Nvidia 900M series or AMD Radeon M300 series.

518. The HD 5500 can run only light games, while the 940M can run the demanding ones, although not with graphics details quality set to high. For better quality you can choose a laptop with the Nvidia 960M or higher. I appreciate your honesty and suggestions. I am planning to buy a laptop. My use is mostly for coding and I use software like android studio, photoshop. I need a light weight laptop with long battery life. HP Pavilion 13-s128nr definitely hits the sweet spot when it comes to price / performance / portability ratio. Full HD IPS, Intel i5, 8GB RAM, SSD… Other similar laptops with similar prices either don’t have FHD screen or have only 4GB RAM, or slow HDD storage instead of SSD.

600, this model appears to be the best choice. Especially if you get it at the discounted price at Amazon. 17. Thank you for this informative article! I was wondering though, do you think the new Lenovo yoga 900 will go on sale on Cyber Monday even though it hasn’t gone on sale on Black Friday and it was just released a few weeks ago, I just can’t stand how slow my Yoga 3 Pro is with the core M right now. Any insight from anyone would be much appreciated, thank you guys! Just came across this and thought it was amazing! I was just wondering what your take on is with Lenovo,

Their Black Friday deals seems too good to be true at what they are priced at, and after reading reviews about them I’m not so sure I want to buy. The alternative second was the Alienware 15, even though Lenovo is offering some pretty nice specs that Alienware isn’t. I feel that there’s an obvious choice for some, but wanted some advice and don’t want make a purchasing mistake. The laptop I am replacing is a 2010-2011 XPS L501X with specs far behind either of these two (I’ll post below), so after 5 years, ANYTHING is better. I can’t comment on reliability since I have used only the Y700 for a short period (I have no complaints about its display quality or build quality). Specs-wise, I would personally choose the Alienware, because of the noticeably better Nvidia 970M GPU, especially if you’re into gaming.

The GPU makes the Alienware more future-proof than the Lenovo. Yes, the Alienware 15 lacks SSD and has smaller RAM, but you can add them yourself later, since the laptop has two M.2 SSD and two RAM slots accessible via a removable cover on the bottom. As for the display resolution, having an Ultra HD screen on a Windows laptop isn’t necessarily a better option than Full HD, because of still present scaling problems in some apps and games. Thank you for replying! I really do appreciate your insight and you definitely help solidify my decision. I was already leaning towards that buy because of having this Dell gift card from the past, but of course just had to hear it from someone else.

1,331.48 (this is inc tax/shipping). Definitely can’t wait for it to arrive. Thanks again for the advice about the the display res as well, I thought I heard that before in the past but thought it no it wasn’t applying still. 19. What are the “Points” all about, These are PassMark benchmark scores for devices’ processors. I am planning to buy a Laptop .. Plz suggest me .. 5 / 1TB /15 inch… Touch Not necessary.. The Dell Inspiron 15 i5558-5718SLV Signature Edition offers good performance and Full HD display as its main selling points. You can find links to these laptops in the laptop list in the post above.

Battery Back up for Dell Inspiron 15 i5558-5718SLV Signature Edition, I want to compare with this .. Search for Dell Inspiron 5558 battery. Regarding, the Inspiron 3000 you linked to, it’s only slightly better in the graphics and CPU departments. It has the low-end GeForce 820M graphics, but is better than the integrated Intel HD in the i5558. Also the i5 CPU is from the newer 5th Generation instead of 4th, meaning a bit better performance. Everything else is better on the i5558 - display, RAM and HDD capacities, keyboard with backlight, and better designed chassis. I am looking to install both Windows 10, and Ubantu, learning bigdata programming, occasional movies streaming.

Touchscreen is not a must. In short, if you want the best performance the HP Pavilion 15-ab292nr with a quad-core i7 CPU is the way to go, while the HP Envy m6 has the best chassis design with aluminum on the palmrest and LCD lid. I would exclude the Dell, since it lacks IPS technology for wide viewing angles and therefore isn’t as good for movie watching as the previous two. 22. Hi Danijel. Thank you for this article and all of your input! I am looking at the Dell Inspiron with 5th gen i7 laptop from Dell Cyber Monday sale or the Toshiba Intel i7 at Staples.

Do you recommend one over the other, Or is there a better 15.6 option available, I use the laptop mainly for movies/music, work, and light gaming. 599 from Staples Black Friday ad, right,) are their displays. 600 you can get a laptop with much better Full HD resolution and also IPS technology for wide viewing angles, which will greatly improve picture quality for your movies. 549 at Best Buy on Black Friday- listed above. The m6-w103dx includes a bit slower i5 CPU instead of i7, but chances are you will never notice the difference during the tasks you mentioned. Now, the Cyber Monday Dell Inspiron has a dedicated video card which greatly improves gaming performance, but it you play only light games you can maybe get away with only the basic Intel HD integrated graphics. 649.99. If you have any further questions, feel free to ask.

Thank you so much for weighing in! 549 also at the Microsoft store. Aside from the Envy being a 2 in 1, how do these two stack up, I appreciate your feedback! 549, the Pavilion 15-ab292nr will be definitely a good Black Friday deal, especially given it has a FHD IPS screen. In comparison to the Envy x360 m6, the main advantage of the Pavilion is much faster quad-core i7 processor instead of the dual-core i5. Not necessarily noticeable during the light day-to-day tasks, but it can complete demanding operations like video transcoding or photography editing much quicker. In addition, its Intel HD 530 integrated graphics is slightly faster than the HD 520, but still just an entry-level graphics solution. What I don’t like about the Pavilion is a low capacity 41 WHr battery for a laptop with the power-hungry quad-core i7 (45-Watt TDP).
